Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: October 2026

1. Purpose & Authorized Scope

cracking.zip is an automated utility designed specifically to assist individuals, security professionals, forensic investigators, and CTF participants in recovering passwords for ZIP archives.

You may use this service only for lawful, authorized activities. You must either:

  • Be the legitimate owner of the archive and its contents, or
  • Hold explicit, verifiable, and written authorization from the owner to analyze and recover credentials for the file.

2. Prohibited Uses & Unlawful Activities

Users are strictly prohibited from engaging in any of the following conduct:

  • Unauthorized Access: Submitting files, archives, or cryptographic materials obtained without the explicit consent of the rightful owner, or attempting to compromise third-party accounts, systems, or data.
  • Violating Cybercrime Legislation: Using the Service in violation of applicable computer crime, unauthorized access, or electronic privacy laws, including without limitation the U.S. Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (18 U.S.C. § 1030), the UK Computer Misuse Act 1990, the EU Directive 2013/40/EU on attacks against information systems, or any local equivalents.
  • Service Disruption & Abuse: Performing denial of service attacks, distributed denial of service (DDoS), flooding, excessive automated querying, or any activity designed to exhaust bandwidth, CPU, or cloud resources.
  • Circumventing Controls: Bypassing, disabling, or interfering with security controls, rate limiting, file size caps, or Cloud Run and Cloud Storage edge protection headers.
  • Exploitation & Malware: Uploading archives containing malicious software, exploits, automated scripts, or payloads designed to harm the Service, its operators, or other users.

3. Rate Limits & Technical Boundaries

The Service enforces strict technical parameters to maintain stability and ensure availability for legitimate users:

  • Archive upload size is limited to 100 MiB per file.
  • Processing execution is subject to a strict 5-minute timeout.
  • Requests are subject to automated per-IP rate limiting and concurrency controls.

Attempts to circumvent these technical constraints or artificially inflate resource consumption violate this policy.

4. Monitoring, Violations & Enforcement

Failure to adhere to this Acceptable Use Policy constitutes a material violation of the Terms of Service. In response to suspected violations or malicious behavior, operators reserve the unilateral right to:

  • Immediately terminate ongoing cracking operations.
  • Block IP addresses, networks, or Autonomous Systems (ASNs).
  • Cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities in the investigation of any suspected criminal or unauthorized activity.
